WAR AND PEACE

War is the culmination of desire. Human desire is the cause of all destructions. The following chart will tell you how this happens:

Desires will attract us to others living style. We may want to own what our neighbours, friends or other relatives have. But our means may not permit us to own these We become greedy and will do what ever possible to grab others wealth.. Then we feel envy about them. If the envy is not controlled it will lead to distress because of our feeling that we are not able to enjoy the life. This feeling of deprival of enjoyment will lead us to think negatively about the others and we will always try to find fault with them. We will not see the goodness within them, whereas we sill make all attempts to dig out their badness. The process will develop hatred with in us. The hatred will get us away from others and we will consider others as our enemies. When others also think in the same style there will be clashes between people leading to war. War can be between individuals, groups or countries. War brings destruction. Destruction is not only the physical assets but human life and peace of mind. Always tension prevails and the life becomes miserable. Countries will suffer with high expenditure because of war and cost of rebuilding the economy and will have to face poverty and unemployment. Ultimately we may need the help of others whom we considered as enemy at one point of time. We will feel that we are living in a Hell.

If this is the one side of the coin, the other side is peace. Peace is a positive word whereas war is negative word. Peace is soft where as war is aggressive. Peace brings prosperity whereas war brings destruction. If we want to bring peace we have to abandon our desires. Let us see how abandonment of desires brings peace.

When we abandon our desires we will look at only or capability and capacity. We will understand our limitations. We will learn how to adjust with our limited resources.. We stop looking at how others live and start to practice self discipline. Self discipline enables us to live with in our means. The result is that we will be happy with whatever we have. We will love our family, neighbours, friends, relatives and all. We will be affectionate to all of them. The love and affection which we exhibit will earn more and more friends and well wishers to us. We will be able to live with out fear of attack. Our life will be peaceful. Peace and tranquility spreads around us. Peace and tranquility creates conducive environment for construction and production leading to lot of employment and generates surplus for supplying to others. We will not be greedy and will be compassionate to others. Our life will be happy and pleasant. We will enjoy the Heavenly life in the earth.

Now decide what we want. Peace or War?

BEGGARS' POLICY

What does a beggar do? Have you ever noticed? A beggar begs for the day. He or she may not have a permanent home to stay. For them the bus shelter, railway platform or shop verandhas are the place for spending the night. Day time they beg and earn for the bread and butter for that day. They don’t think about the past. They neither think about tomorrow. They don’t save and spend whatever they get on the same day. They don’t plan their life. They have no goal. They don’t have any direction. They move from one place to another. They don’t plan where to go on the next day.
Many of us are like beggars. There are even institutions which follow the beggar’s policy. If we look at the policies followed many of the individual and institutions around us we can see the following four positions.

People in Quadrant A have poor direction but excellent planning. They will never reach anywhere. They are like drift wood. They start everything but do not finish anything.

People in Quadrant C have excellent direction but poor planning. They know where they want to reach but do not how to reach there. They dream a lot, but achieve nothing.

Beggars are in Quadrant C. They do not have either direction or planning. They are little concerned about the future. They live for the day. Whatever they get on the day they spend and again go for begging on the next day. They are comfortable with their position and do not want to change. They are contented with their current state and continue to be beggars.

Those who are in Quadrant C are great achievers. They have excellent direction and excellent planning. These people carry clear vision, mission and goal. They plan their day and achieve their goals. People look towards them for guidance.

We can move people in Quadrants A and C to Quadrant B by giving them proper training and motivation. But it is difficult to change those who are in Quadrant C because they are close minded people and do not listen to any one. They don’t follow others’ advice also. They always think that what ever they do is good for them and hence do not want to correct it.

You can put the organizations and individuals in these quadrants according to their policies. Now think of where do you place yourself? In which quadrant you want to be? Look around you and identify institutions which are in Quadrants A, C and D.

This is my theory. I welcome comments from the readers.

TRUE LOVE
O
ne day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers. That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual..On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of the comments. No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another. That group of students moved on. Several years later, one of the students was killed in VietNam and his teacher attended the funeral of that special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. He looked so handsome, so mature. The church was packed with his friends. One by one those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The teacher was the last one to bless the coffin.. As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to her. 'Were you Mark's math teacher?' he asked. ! She nodded: 'yes.' Then he said: 'Mark talked about you a lot.' After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmate! s went together to a luncheon. Mark's mother and father were there, obviously waiting to speak with his teacher. 'We want to show you something,' his father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket 'They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might recognize it.' Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. The teacher knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which she had listed all the good things each of Mark's classmates had said about him.
'Thank you so much for doing that,' Mark's mother said. 'As you can see, Mark treasured it.'
All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around. Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, 'I still have my list. It's in the top drawer of my desk at home.'
Chuck's wife said, 'Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album.' 'I have mine too,' Marilyn said. 'It's in my diary' Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. 'I carry this with me at all times,' Vicki said and without batting an eyelash, she continued: 'I think we all saved our lists' That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.
The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be. So please, tell the people you love and care for, that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late.
True Love is always expressed, otherwise it has no value.

Vision and Values
Once we create a mission, we must write our vision for life. The vision may change from person to person. Vision is the outlook about our life. In this process we are visualizing what we are going to be in future. The vision enables us to achieve the mission.

Rule 2

Have a mission for your life. Think of why are you living. Some people are alive even after their death. Some people are dead even when they are alive. It is the deeds that make you alive even after death. Death is a reality and an unsolicited visitor who can visit at any one at any time. But one should be able to live in the hearts of millions. About 60 years back Mahatma Gandhi died. But still he lives in our hearts. Therefore, we should have a mission to be completed before we go from this world. People must feel you absence not presence.

So write your personal mission statement boldly in a paper and deeply in your mind and let this reflect in you words, deeds and thouoghts.

The next Question is how to set goals. Yes, here are some tips
1. Your goal must be specific, not general. Example. I will write one book this year.
2. Your goal must be mesurable.
3. Your goal must be achievable. If I write that I will write 10 books this year, the achievement will be doubtful.
4. Your goal must be relevant to your role. If I am a writer then only I should fix the above goal. If I do not have the talent to write a book, my goal will become unachievable. So the goal must be something which is related to your present role. If you have different role, you should fix goals for each role
5. Time bound. You should specifically mention within how much time you want to achieve the goal.

Write down the goal or take a print-out from you computere. make-out beautiful posters and paste it on your bed room, study room etc. prepare a small card and keep it your vallet so that you will see every time you open the vallet to take money.
Practice this for at lest one month and see the difference.
